Presentation: “Preparing for Next Season” by John Shaner
Thursday January 16, 2025; 7:00 Broome County Chamber of Comm.
Winter in the northeast dramatically reduces our fly fishing opportunities. Diligent anglers use this time to maintain equipment, sort flies, update fly boxes, inspect service and replace fly lines, and get prepared for the next fishing season. Don’t leave yourself unprepared for the April season….be ready. John will discuss how to care for and maintain your rods, reels, lines and flies. He will also show how to properly fill a reel with new line and the knots he uses use to make various connections.
John has many years of guiding experience, especially in Montana and points west. As a retired guide, John became a representative for many well know fly fishing companies (Orvis, Cortland, and Hardy, to name a few). John is an excellent and knowledgeable speaker and you will not want to miss his presentation. John and his Sister own and manage Laurel Bank Farm (a sleepover and event destination) located on 500’ of prime trout water on the West Branch of the Delaware River in Deposit, NY.
